SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Food Pantry Programs

Youth Full Maine partners with schools in York County to build and maintain food pantries for students in K-12 schools. As of 2025, we are supplying nourishing food for students in 30 schools across the county! Our goal for the 2025-2026 school year is to start fresh produce distributions within these schools as well.

During the summer months, YFM serves kids and families at neighborhood, summer school, and recreation sites to provide fresh produce and non-perishable goods, acknowledging that food insecurity doesn’t stop when school ends.

Additionally, we provide home meal food support to preschools, daycares, after school programs, and for college students.

Why Schools?

Schools are integral community spaces. Distributing food through schools ensures that we are supporting the futures of youth during important periods of development. School campuses are also central in our communities, which has allowed us to pivot toward community-wide food distribution events to support all citizens of York County as well. Hunger affects physical, social, and mental well-being of food-insecure youth and their families. Providing students with nutritious food eases the toll on their mental health, supports their ability to focus on school work, and increases their chances at greater economic prosperity later in life.
